Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come.
This role is a part of the Human Resources Business Unit leadership team and will collaborate as a trusted partner with senior leadership to influence decision-making and integrated planning by providing expertise on transformational initiatives, talent and performance management, workforce and human capital planning, organizational design, capacity and engagement, organizational health, safety and wellness, change management and strategic labour relations.
This posting is for 1 permanent and 1 temporary role (12 months, with possibility of extension).

What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:
- Building collaborative and strategic partnerships with a variety of senior leaders to align strategic human resources plans to client business objectives
- Applying business insights through planning, research, and analysis to ensure senior leaders align their organizational structure, HR strategies and programs with emerging business needs
- Leading and supporting transformation initiatives, including organizational design, culture, and change management within a complex unionized public sector environment
- Partnering with senior leaders to identify trends and opportunities to optimize talent in their divisions and develop supporting talent, performance and succession management strategies
- Contributing to innovative solutions on complex and multifaceted people-focused priorities in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and employee engagement
- Working in partnership with the broader HR team and corporate business functions to address client issues
- Planning, developing, implementing, and executing HR programs and projects that meet client needs, ensuring processes and activities are aligned with business and enterprise priorities
In a typical day, you will:
Through an inclusive lens, use your expertise to provide strategic HR advice to clients on:
- Talent development, succession planning and performance management
- Organizational design, staffing/workforce planning, compensation and labour relations
- Employment accommodation, attendance management and employment transition
- The application of human resource policies, programs and collective agreements
Leverage your creativity and strong oral and written communication skills to:
- Coach clients in strategies for successful HR outcomes
- Develop and deliver presentations and briefings to senior leadership
- Prepare project plans, implementation plans, briefing notes and analysis documents
- Design and facilitate sessions with clients and stakeholders
Showcase your collaboration and project management skills by:
- Contributing to innovative solutions on complex and multi-faceted issues
- Developing strategic products that move the bar on various business and corporate initiatives

Strategic Human Resources Knowledge and Business Acumen
- You are known for blending your business acumen with the HR/LR landscape to develop tailored advice and solutions through creativity and flexibility to drive corporate outcomes
- You have knowledge of HR policies and laws, including collective agreements, and can apply them to complex situations
- You have demonstrated experience in applying current trends and practices in organizational design and development, change management, employee experience, human capital planning, performance management, team development, competency-based performance models and leadership succession
Relationship Management, Communication and Problem-Solving Skills
- You have a demonstrated ability to synthesize and convey complicated issues with a high-level of accuracy and recommend courses of action to decision-makers
- You have superior consultative and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships with senior leaders, gather organizational information and provide strategic advice, and work collaboratively across organizational boundaries
- You display strong political acuity to recognize and deal with sensitive situations and develop appropriate responses for clients
- You have excellent written and oral communication skills to develop and present proposals, recommendations, briefing materials, presentation decks and communications materials
Project Management Skills
- You have advanced project management and strategic planning skills to lead, oversee, and coordinate cultural transformation and change initiatives, and key projects, activities, and services
- You can effectively lead the full program cycle of projects from conceptualization to development, implementation and evaluation
