Phone Screening
If you’ve been identified as a candidate of interest, you’ll receive an email to arrange a screening call. This short conversation will be with a Talent Acquisition (TA) Advisor.
First Interview
If selected, you'll interview with a hiring manager and TA Advisor. This may include a technical assessment or presentation, held virtually or in person. Be ready to show your skills, ask questions, and be yourself. We value authenticity and diversity.
Second Interview
This will be a further exploration of the job, your skill set, and an assessment of our mutual interest. You may meet with a single interviewer, or a panel of interviewers that could include leaders, peers, or key stakeholders. This interview may also include a technical assessment or presentation.
Hiring Decision
After interviews are completed, the hiring team will decide on the right candidate for the role. If that’s you, a TA Advisor will contact you to discuss offer details and next steps. We will also conduct relevant background checks and discuss onboarding details upon completion.

When it comes to building diverse skills and charting an enviable career path, you don’t have to join a huge organization. Just ask Tam Wagner, who says there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to achieving your goals at the IESO – her love of learning has taken her from the control room to leading teams that support real-time and future reliability.
Tam Wagner, P.Eng., Director, Demand Side Management
As a U of T student interested in community building, Saeed Mohamed never imagined he’d be able to realize his passion for helping remove barriers faced by marginalized communities in either a government agency or in the electricity industry. But today’s he’s doing that in both – thanks, in part, to his co-op experience, which opened doors to new possibilities.
Saeed Mohamed, Advisor, Funds, Indigenous Engagement
When it comes to significant grid events, Joseph Ricasio has seen it all – from forest fires to ice storms and tornadoes – since joining the IESO in 2007. But on a team where addressing contingency is second nature, and where there’s always a Plan B and Plan C, it’s the day-to-day contributions to system reliability that make the difference.
Joseph Ricasio, P. Eng., Sr. Manager, System Operations
For David Le, learning in an academic setting is one thing. But it’s the exposure to the inner workings of a power system, and the opportunity to put his grounding in power system theory into practice in the real world – and in real time – that led the former co-op student to return to the IESO to build his career.
