Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come.
This role is a part of the Control Room Support team. This is a union job.

The successful candidate will help design, develop, and deliver effective training materials and programs by working closely with subject matter experts and supporting Market Operations staff through various learning platforms. They will also coordinate internal efforts to meet learning needs and ensure training activities and records are well‑maintained.
What you’ll do
- Preparing training day agendas, coordinate with internal stakeholders, facilitate virtual and
in-person training sessions and maintain training records for audit purposes. - Assisting in the development of programs and products in various media to facilitate learning and ensure a high-quality user experience throughout the learner experience.
- Interacting with knowledgeable and functional personnel to solicit professional and practical views and suggestions for inclusion in course materials. Integrate content of information received from functional areas and Subject Matter Experts into learning materials.
- Preparing and update training materials and other training assignments for various training courses and products. Develop and maintain training documentation.
- Obtaining feedback from trainees to enhance and improve the learner experience.
- Assisting in the design of program evaluation methodologies based on accepted evaluation strategy as determined by the Supervisor and industry best practices within NERC.
- Working with vendors to design and deliver learning aids (e.g. graphics).
- Facilitating team meetings and record meeting minutes as applicable.
- Performing other duties as may be required.
In a typical day, you will:
- Assist in the design and development of training documentation, comprehensive learning programs and products utilizing various delivery media to facilitate learning.
- Assist in coordinating internally to achieve learning needs and maintain training records.
- Work in harmony and coordinate efforts of subject matter experts to provide input to produce training programs for Operations staff. Assist in development, support and delivery of training to Market Operations staff in a classroom setting or through the use of various media.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
Education:
- Requires knowledge of technical writing for the development and implementation of training programs and products.
- Requires knowledge of English, oral and written communication skills to prepare and present strategies, and training courseware.
- This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of four-years of university education in the appropriate fields or by having the equivalent.
Experience:
- Requires some experience in the design, development and evaluation of training programs/courses and the assessment and recommendation of training requirements or related solutions. Relevant experience in developing educational media and/or courseware. Knowledge of computer programs. Requires knowledge of training and presentation techniques and practices. Should have experience in facilitating training sessions. Requires experience in guiding, training and providing advice to individuals and good customer service skills.
- A period of over 4 years, up to and including 6 years’ experience is considered necessary to gain this experience.
