Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come. 
This role is a part of the Corporate Relations Engagement and Strategy Business Unit and is unionized.

The Analyst, Communication Services is responsible for providing support to the External Communications team and the external corporate websites – managing daily web publishing requests along with developing content and enhancements across the sites.

 

What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:

  • Design and coordinate the production of corporate publications – working with business units and vendors.
  • Review content for compliance with corporate visual identity, brand narrative, and accessibility.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on metrics to measure communication effectiveness, utilizing various analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create content for major corporate initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of video content – for social and other platforms – as well as coordinate photo shoots and the IESO photo library.
  • Complete and report on work activities ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Ensure quality control of internal and external communications vehicles by monitoring KPIs and assurance reports.
  • Efficiently respond to email queries and requests sent to the communications mailbox.
  • Perform other duties as required.
     

Role Requirements
Our team consists of experts from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives and skills. 
To succeed in this role, you’ll need: 

  • Education:

    • Requires a strong knowledge of communications, journalism, and public relations to participate in the development and provision of corporate communications, information and fulfillment programs and delivery methods. 
    • Requires an strong understanding of CP style and superior writing skills - writing clear and concise copy for the web and a strong understanding of the best practices for web and marketing communications.

    This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four-year university education in the appropriate field or by having the equivalent level of education.

    Experience:

    • Requires experience across a broad variety of communications or web development roles to acquire familiarity with IESO visual identity and brand narrative with prior communications experience.
    • Requires familiarity with the IESO organization, its communications policies and objectives, and their application and intent, and understanding of government and stakeholders and the impact they may have on the organization.
    • Requires experience with SiteCore, Microsoft Teams, and graphic designing/editing tools – including knowledge with corporate templates and accessibility requirements.
    • Requires ability to multi-task, work in a high volume, evolving work environment with flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing work priorities.

     

    A period of four years, up to and including six years, is considered necessary to gain this experience.
