This role is a part of the Corporate Relations, Engagement and Strategy Business Unit in the Corporate Communications team and is a unionized position.

The Analyst, Communication Services, supports the Public Relations team and assists in preparing assigned communications products that support the Corporate Communications strategy. This role requires a highly organized candidate as it involves coordinating, tracking and administering IESO participation in external events/speaking engagements.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:

  • Assist in preparing assigned communications products and review content for compliance with corporate visual identity, brand narrative, and accessibility that support the Corporate Communications strategy.  
  • Prepare draft correspondence directed to the general public or specialized segments as assigned. Complete and report on work activities ensuring deadlines and objectives are met. Provide information to staff as required and participate in the solution of problems.
  • Provide clarification or other support/coordination/resolution needs to vendors/suppliers on communications programs. Assist in monitoring the performance of vendors/suppliers selected to provide communication services.
  • Support the Corporate Communications Function in the implementation of core communications work and products such as development of correspondence, responding to inquiries from the public and internal stakeholders, outreach activities and the development of presentation materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to write web content and establish functionality for major corporate initiatives. Writing and coordinating the production of corporate publications – working with business units and vendors.
  • Provide clarification or other support/coordination/resolution needs to vendors/suppliers on communications programs. Assist in monitoring the performance of vendors/suppliers selected to provide communication services.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on corporate communications programs to measure effectiveness, as assigned.

 In a typical day, you will

  • Coordinate, track and administer IESO participation in external events/speaking engagements. 
  • Support the Corporate Communications Function in the implementation of core communications work and products such as media monitoring, issues management, development of correspondence, responding to inquiries from the public, media, government and other stakeholders, Outreach activities and the development of presentation materials.

Role Requirements

Our team consists of experts from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives and skills.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A strong knowledge of communications, journalism, and public relations to participate in the development and provision of corporate communications, information and fulfillment programs and delivery methods. 
  • A strong knowledge of English both oral and written to effectively develop communications products and services.
  • Experience in a variety of communications activities or roles to acquire familiarity with corporate communications programs. 
  • Familiarity with the IESO organization, its communications policies and objectives, and their application and intent, and some insight of government relations.

This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired either through the successful completion of a four-year university education in the appropriate field or by having the equivalent level of education.

A period of over 4 years and up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience. 

The following would be an asset:

  • A strong understanding of CP style and superior writing skills - writing clear and concise copy for the web and a strong understanding of the best practices for web and marketing communications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, and graphic designing/editing tools – including knowledge with corporate templates and accessibility requirements.
