Who we are
Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. Our employees play a key role in driving grid innovation, protecting the system from threats, advancing the province’s energy conservation programs, and forecasting and procuring the electricity resources we’ll need in the decades to come.
This is a non-unionized position that falls within the Talent Management Division in the Human Resources Business Unit.

The Learning and Development Consultant will contribute directly to this strategic imperative by designing and implementing learning experiences that are innovative, engaging and outcomes-focused.
What you’ll do
In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact by contributing to the IESO team and supporting the electricity needs of the province through:
- Building Capability That Matters: Shaping and delivering learning solutions that strengthen individual, team, and organizational performance, aligning directly with the IESO’s business strategy, core values, and competencies
- Solving Real Business Problems Through Learning Solutions: Partnering closely with IESO leaders and teams to diagnose root causes and rapidly design practical, innovative learning solutions—balancing creativity, agility, and resourcefulness
- Leading Modern, Inclusive Learning Experiences: Championing engaging, contemporary learning approaches grounded in the 70:20:10 framework, fostering an inclusive learning culture that supports continuous growth and knowledge transfer
- Owning High‑Impact Learning Portfolios: Responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of leadership, business, and digital learning programs—from design and implementation through to evaluation and continuous improvement
- Measuring, Optimizing, and Scaling Impact: Demonstrating the value of learning through data, dashboards, and stakeholder insights; supporting managers in reinforcing learning on the job and collaborating with external partners to bring best‑in‑class solutions forward
In a typical day, you will:
- Provide learning and development guidance, advisory and consultative services to business leaders and HR partners
- Manage the end-to-end planning and implementation of the IESO's leadership, business and digital learning programs
- Partner with internal subject matter experts and external providers to develop and implement learning solutions
- Develop communication strategies in partnership with the employee communications team to promote awareness and participation in learning activities
- Prepare and communicate metrics on the effectiveness of Learning and Development programs and initiatives in partnership with the HRIS team
Role Requirements
Our team consists of experts from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique perspectives and skills.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A post-secondary education, preferably in Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field; a graduate degree is an asset
- 5 years of experience in learning and development at the corporate level
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, assessment methodologies, and organizational development theories required through education or experience
- Change management experience in regulated, complex, public sector, multi-stakeholder, unionized environments
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent facilitation skills, influencing skills, relationship building, business acumen and client focus
- Demonstrated ability to coach, advise and counsel managers and employees
- Organizational savvy, adaptability, flexibility, and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to operate independently and within a team environment
