Who we are 

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it. We operate the province’s electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario’s electricity needs – now and into the future.


 

 

The opportunity

 

The Analyst, Capability Building & Support, assists with developing the capacity of Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) and channel partners to participate in the design, delivery and implementation of energy-efficiency activities in the province.  This individual will work with the Supervisor, Support, and others, both internal and external to the IESO, to analyze the capability needs to support expanded capacity and assist with scoping-related requirements. The Analyst, Capability Building & Support, will assist with procuring appropriate capability-building initiatives and arrange and coordinate delivery of those initiatives. The individual is also responsible to analyze and report on the quality of the delivered initiatives, and research and support the development and implementation of relevant benchmarks and quality metrics.

 

What you'll do

 

Leadership

  • Influence the culture of conservation internally and externally
  • Demonstrate by example the values of the IESO and the culture of the Energy Efficiency Group
  • Participate in relevant associations relating to the capability building effort.

 

Technical

  • Liaise with staff internal to IESO and external organizations to assess capability building needs in the energy-efficiency marketplace.
  • Analyze and prioritize training/education needs and capability gaps.
  • Develop and implement capability building plans for the key sector organizations including LDCs and other key marketplace organizations.
  • Provide program and market-related analytical support and potential opportunity reporting to support appropriate Supervisor, Senior Manager and/or Director.
  • Analyze participant feedback and other key metrics to report on the quality and appropriateness of initiatives implemented.
  • Research and analyze relevant industry benchmarks and metrics to support effective capability building in the energy-efficiency marketplace.
  • Make recommendations and maintain delivery statistics and other data to support analysis of the capability building efforts.

 

Customer Focus

  • Coordinate the effective delivery of capability building initiatives as appropriate.
  • Manage program and project applications as appropriate within the IESO ensuring customer needs and schedules are met
  • Responsible for the timeliness of all customers’ and allies’ requests for information
  • Other duties as required

 

And other duties or responsibilities as may be assigned.

 

What you need to succeed

 

  • Solid background and grounding in capability training, training needs analysis and delivery. Broad background in the energy-efficiency marketplace would be an asset.
  • 4-6 years’ experience in energy-efficiency marketplace.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and presentation) at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent conceptual and “forward thinking” skills
  • Attention to detail

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs. Individuals participating in the program can work an average of three days per week remotely within Ontario. It also offers three flex weeks when individuals can work remotely within Ontario. When working in the office, you will be located at our, Adelaide - Toronto, ON location.
